Course Overview

The target group for the BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management are those who may be:

Seeking to pursue a career in human resources management and executive positions in the organisation.
Seeking to progress in their career in human resources, industrial law, employee relations, etc.
Seeking a pathway into higher education qualifications.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a variety of roles within the human resources sector. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Human Resources Consultant, Human Resources Advisor and Human Resources Business Partner.
Responsibilities are likely to be determined at a workplace level. Some smaller organisations may require employees to work across all aspects of human resources. In larger organisations, individuals may coordinate a single human resources function.

In order to achieve the BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management students must satisfactorily
complete the following units of competency.

BSBHRM501 Manage human resources services
BSBHRM506 Manage recruitment selection and induction processes
BSBHRM512 Develop and manage performance-management processes

Entry Requirements:

Melbourne Education Institute (MEI) has admission requirements as follows:

Entry to this qualification is limited to those who have completed the following units (or equivalent competencies): BSBHRM411 Administer performance development processes. BSBHRM412 Support employee and industrial relations. BSBHRM415 Coordinate recruitment and onboarding; and BSBHRM417 Support human resource functions and processes.
Equivalent competencies are predecessors to these units, which have been mapped as equivalent.
OR Have two years equivalent full-time relevant work experience.

Note: If the student has not completed the units listed in the entry requirement, student can enrol in Certificate IV of human resource management for which the listed units are listed as core. The COE Duration for completing the units can be determined through the course training and assessment strategy. If the student does not want to complete the full
qualification Certificate IV, MEI can issue the statement of attainment for the units completed.

Melbourne Education Institute (MEI) has admission requirements as follows:

Students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of their course commencement at the college.
Students applying for this course will need to provide evidence of satisfactory completion of Australian Year 11 (or equivalent) orhigher.
OR Have two years of equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in a human resources role.
Either a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course.

Please note: All the students commencing this course are required to complete an LLN test (other than those who have
successfully completed. Bachelor or higher qualification in Australia) and a pre-training review to assist MEI to identify
student’s skills, experience and knowledge and needs for additional support during their study with Melbourne Education
Institute.

A mixed delivery mode is implemented including face to face training and training in simulated work environment. Training will take place at the Melbourne Education Institute facility at Level 1, 310 King Street, Melbourne VIC Australia 3000.
The learner is required to achieve competency in 12 units in order to complete the course. The learner will undergo:

An introduction process explaining the units of competency and the training and assessment program.
A review of the available units of competency that will be selected.
An induction into the training program
A review and sign off of the training plan

The format for delivery/assessment will be designed around a programme involving a combination of classroom based theory sessions, classroom based tutorials that will link the theory with the real business world, formative assessment tasks undertaken in the classroom under the direction of trainers and projects undertaken under the direction of trainers.
Simulated workplaces or studies of real workplaces will be used to study projects and assessment tasks

The full-time duration of this course is 44 study weeks plus 8 weeks of holidays (over 52 weeks).
Some of the course is allocated to workbooks, assessments and projects.
The delivery schedule outlines details of weekly study, hours of contact time and assessments to be completed.
Students may work at a variety of individual paces and complete the course in a shorter or longer timeframe. The
duration and scheduling will consider the need for students to fully gain and develop the skills and knowledge that the
assessment will assess; allowing for variations of some students due to specific learning needs and time for students
for reflect on their learning and practice the skills and knowledge in a real or simulated workplace prior to presenting for assessment.
